Steve Madewell (Band)

Biography:

I have two major influences, music and nature. When playing wineries and clubs, I do a mix of traditional and cover songs along with my originals.

I began singing and playing guitar early in my teens and performed in a myriad of venues. I have been the opening act for many nationally recognized recording artists including Leon Russell, John Prine, Doc Watson, Jonathan Edwards, New Grass Revival, John Sebastian, Bill Stains, Sarah McQuaid and several other wonderful talents.

Music has always been a part of my life and throughout my conservation career I have maintained a very active performance schedule. Early in my career music helped me and my family pay the bills. Later music became an important recreational outlet. Ultimately I was able to once again pursue music as an art form.

In recent years, I have shifted my musical efforts toward writing and recording original material. Of course I write about things I have seen or inspirations I have enjoyed. In 2002 I recorded "Rivers and Trails", a selection of simple folk compositions based on living, fishing and working in the out of doors.
In 2007 I released "Arrow Creek" a tribute to a more environmentally aware lifestyle.

I continue to write and perform my own songs that tell stories inspired by the landscape, life and love, observations about where we have been and where we are going.
