Velvet Spruce (Band)
Biography:
Velvet Spruce hails from Giles county, Virginia where they started their musical journey as a father-daughter duo in a now defunct speakeasy. Playing “mellow and smooth spruced-up tuneage” covering songs from the 1930s to the 2020s in a mellow, unique fashion, with an occasional original thrown in for good measure, is what they love to do.
Haley Hansen Jones, a recent Virginia Tech graduate with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, provides lead vocals and some rhythm guitar. Haley is also the new choral program director at Blacksburg High School. Haley’s father, Chris Hansen, loves everything guitar and is known to proudly wear a t-shirt stating “just because I can’t sing doesn’t mean I won’t.” A true statement on at least one count. Haley’s husband, Noah Jones, was “volunteered” to keep things in the groove on cajon — and that he does well.
