The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley presents their 2025 Scrabble Tournament for Literacy on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the German Club Manor at Virginia Tech.
Join us for a fun evening of word play! The Scrabble Tournament features exciting play and great fun, as well as delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres; a cash bar will be available.
Play is team-based, with three people per team and all levels of Scrabble players are encouraged to join in. Yyou can choose to be paired with "competitive" or "just for fun" teams.
Prizes are awarded for:
• Tournament Champions
• Round One Winners
• Round Two Winners
• Most Creative Team Name
• Highest Scoring Word
The cost is $120.00 per team of three players. Individuals may register for $45.00 and will be placed with a team.

There are two rounds of 45 minute games; play will be completed at 8:00 PM with an awards and prize presentation to follow.
The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley connects community members who want to strengthen their literacy skills with trained, volunteer tutors. We provide tutoring in both basic literacy (reading and writing) and English as a second language (conversational and basic English skills) to adults in the New River Valley.
We also promote public awareness, cooperative partnerships, information sharing and referrals between literacy programs and communities.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, play begins at 6:15 PM.
