Father Sun embodies the true spirit of reggae with a blend of experienced artistry and youthful energy. Father Sun’s repertoire encompasses reggae covers and original compositions, each note carrying the authentic vibe of the genre. Their performances are not mere musical exhibitions; they are heartfelt celebrations of life and the universal language of music. Join Father Sun on their musical odyssey, where the essence of reggae is embraced and shared, connecting soul and spreading positivity wherever their music is heard.
Laying the bassline of this musical journey is Janiah Allen, a seasoned musician known for his collaborations with Alliens, Music Road Co, Solazo, Jordan Harman & the Humble Brags, Sol Roots and The Ambassador. Alongside Janiah is his son, Nyo Allen, whose exceptional drumming skills bring life to Father Sun’s beats. From an early age, Nyo developed a love for rhythm, and he lays down a solid foundation for the band.
Janiah & Nyo’s original compositions are rooted in reggae traditions and infused with modern creativity. They are joined by guitarist Aram Skenderian, whose melodic prowess adds depth and dimension to their music.

This football season marks the first in over 50 years that Floyd County High School will be coached by another head football coach other than Wilfred Beale. Coach Beale has been a pillar in our Floyd Community, at the high school and in the football program for decades and we are so very thankful and touched by his years of developing young people. He has given his life to the character and physical disciplines of young athletes and our community is forever changed because of that.
There is little that can be said to show the community's gratitude, but we will try to show a token of our appreciation by honoring Winfred Beale at Small Town Summer roughly around 7:30 PM. Floyd County's new football coach, Tim Cromer, will be recognized as well.
The Small Town Fall Festival Event Series is free and open to the public.
The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. Featuring music, movies, face-painting, inflatables, games, food and beverage and special activities presented by a variety of community organizations!
Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket.
Gates will be open and access provided to the public starting at 6:00 PM.
