The Waldron Fitness Center presents the 2023 Annual Shawsville Independence Day 5k Run/Walk and Fun Run starting and finishing at Old Town Fields in Shawsville, VA on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Join us on Independence Day for a 5K through beautiful Shawsville, VA. This year the annual race is sponsored by Waldron Fitness Center.
The Shawsville 5K course is one of the flattest road courses in the area. The course follows Old Town Road West then loops onto US 460 and back onto Old Town Road for the return leg back to Old Town Fields. There is one small hill at ~2.5 miles followed by a long gentle downhill to the finish. The course is essentially a simple loop through and around Shawsville.
The cost to enter is $35.00.
Participants can register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/Events/VA/Shawsville/WaldronFitness5k or pick-up a race form in-person at the Waldron Fitness Center front desk.
Online registration closes at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Onsite race day registration will be available until 7:45 AM.
T-shirts and are guaranteed for participants registered before Saturday, July 1st. Race awards will be given out with medals for the top runners in each age group as well as the Fastest Family Award.
The Kids Fun Run is free and will start after the 5k.
Runners and walkers are welcome.
Water will be available at 1.5 miles.
Packet Pick-Up is available on Monday, July 3rd from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Waldron Fitness Center and on Tuesday, July 4th from 7:00-7:45 AM at Old Town Fields before the race.
The event is rain or shine.
After the 5k and Fun Run, participants are invited to enjoy both the annual Shawsville Independence Day Parade at 4:00 PM and Independence Day concert with the Tara Lane Band and fireworks show starting at 5:30 PM.
