The Common Ingredient New River Valley presents a Panel Discussion on Hunger in New River Valley on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Blacksburg Library.

How do we ensure food security in the New River Valley?

The Common Ingredient NRV (TCI-NRV) is a digital recipe-sharing website and advocate for food security focused on food’s power to connect us all. TCI-NRV along with its partner, the Blacksburg Library, will host a panel discussion to explore possible answers to this problem that affects so many of our NRV citizens.

Featured panelists include:
• Nina Mukerjee Furstenau, renowned food writer & TCI founder
• John Galbraith, founding member of the Glean Team
• Isabelle Largen, Asst. Director for Food Access Initiatives, VT
• Meredith Miear, local high school librarian

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The Common Ingredient NRV (TCI-NRV) is a digital recipe-sharing website and advocate for food security focused on food’s power to connect us all. TCI-NRV is new to the area and a chapter of The Common Ingredient of Columbia, Missouri.

And the Common Ingredient is love, love for delicious food, new and exciting recipes, and above all, love for helping others!

Enjoy the free recipes, the up-lifting food stories, profiles of local food pantries, and information about community education programs and activities aimed at reducing and eliminating food insecurity in the NRV and beyond. We would love your recipes, food stories, and announcements of activities related to ending food insecurity.
