Description:
The Montgomery Museum of Art & History presents the 2022 Heritage Day Festival on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in downtown Christiansburg, VA.

Heritage Day Festival is back, bigger and better than ever before! With over 40 vendors including historical re-enactors and demonstrators, there is something for everyone at this street festival!

Live music headlined by the Jared Stout Band and a beer garden featuring a brand new beer in partnership with Iron Tree Brewing are among the new additions to the street festival while we also bring back many favorites like our beloved hay wagon!

Here is just some of what you can expect at this year’s Heritage Day festival:

Live Music:
Live music throughout the day including the Jared Stout Band from 11am-1pm. Other musicians include John and Kathie Hollandsworth, Leatherwood, and American Roots.

Brand New Beer Release:
Thanks to a partnership with Iron Tree Brewing, the museum is pleased to debut and feature a brand new beer that will be premiered exclusively at the festival. This first-time release is called the L&M Rifle Ale, inspired my local history right here in Montgomery County, VA. The name is inspired by the Lewis-McHenry Duel fought in Christiansburg in 1808.

Food Trucks:
We will have food trucks on-site serving hots dogs, snacks, and ice crème

Hay Wagon:
As in year’s past, we will operate a hay wagon for children and families to hop on and ride to and from Downtown to our old museum site on Pepper Street, where we will also have many children activities

Children’s Activities:
-Petting Zoo on-site at the former museum building on Pepper Street.
-Adoptable Dogs by the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center (Pepper St.)
-Master Gardener’s children’s classes including plant finding and plant give-away in museum garden (Pepper St.)
-Spinning Tops (Downtown)
-The Book Mobil presented by the MFRL (Downtown)
-The Museum will also hold children’s activities in our new building including "Dig for Gold" and other arts and craft activities. (Downtown)

Street Vendors:
Vendors will be selling or demonstrating items related to hand-made jewelry, home and bath goods, weaving, woodworking, folk art, rug hooking, bee keeping, printing cards, wood working and so much more. For a complete list of vendors, please visit https://montgomerymuseum.org/events/heritage-day/

Silent Auction:
You wont want to miss the wonderful assortment of gifts and prizes to be auctioned off in the museum's new building.
