The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Blacksburg present the 2018 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Blacksburg Municipal Park starting at 6:00 pm.

Schedule:
• 6:00 pm: Music from The Blacksburg Community Band
• 8:00 pm: Music from The Mudd Daubers and Queen Bees
• 9:30 pm: Fireworks Show begins

Enjoy live music from The Blacksburg Community Band, under the direction of Jay A. Durner, presents a concert filled with patriotic music to get you in the spirit of the day along with a limited number of food vendors followed by a performance from local classic rock band The Mudd Daubers and Queen Bees before everyone's favorite annual Fireworks Show.

The Blacksburg Community Band, Inc. is an all-volunteer community organization formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia. The band is under the direction of David McKee.

The ensemble is open to individuals of all ages and ability levels from the New River Valley and surrounding areas and performs in an average of 20 concerts each year throughout the New River Valley. The band was incorporated in Virginia as a non-profit corporation in 2007.

The Mudd Daubers and Queen Bees are a local Blacksburg, VA rock 'n roll band performing your favorite classic rock covers from the 60s, 70s and 80s along with some extras.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Bring your chairs, blankets, picnics and enjoy the July 4th festivities.

Additionally to help with parking, the Blacksburg Transit will operate a free shuttle to the fireworks at Municipal Park. Shuttles will begin at 6:00 pm, departing from the access area beside Goodwin Hall (off Stanger, in-between Goodwin Hall and Perry Street Lot 3), approximately every 10-15 minutes.

Shuttles will operate until the start of the fireworks, then resume after the show has ended; shuttles will depart from the same location passengers were dropped off.

Before the Celebration & Fireworks, the 2018 Town of Blacksburg 4th of July Parade will be held on Main Street starting at 2:00 pm. For more information, visit: http://www.nextthreedays.com/FeaturedEventDetails.cfm?E=476058.
