Description:
The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents Soprano Emily Martin with Pianist Sezi Seskir in concert on Monday, February 23, 2026 inside the Squires Recital Salon located within the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Emily Martin, an American soprano and New England native, is a dynamic force in the performing arts. Over a 30-year career, she has excelled as an opera singer, stage director, voice teacher, educator, vocologist, yoga instructor, entrepreneur, and arts leader. Acclaimed for her "enchanting iridescence" (The Sarasota Herald-Tribune) and "dramatic energy and skill" (The Philadelphia Inquirer), Emily has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Santa Fe Opera, Palm Beach, and the Nevada Opera, among others. Emily is a sought-after masterclass clinician, artist-in-residence, producer, and stage director.

She is the Ellen P. Williams Associate Professor of Music and Director of the Bucknell Voice Lab at Bucknell University. She is reshaping undergraduate music education by incorporating wellness, entrepreneurship, non-traditional repertoire, and community engagement into her innovative curriculum.

Pianist Sezi Seskir has performed many solo and chamber music recitals in Europe, the USA, and Turkey, as well as with various orchestras as a soloist. Her experience performing on a variety of historical keyboards, including 5-octave instruments from the second half of the 18th century, as well as 6 and 6.5-octave instruments from the first half of the 19th century, enriched and deepened her understanding of the genres and repertoire of these periods. She has given several guest lecture-recitals and workshops at schools such as UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Princeton University, the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, Trinity College of London and Penn State University. She is a co-founder of the Chamber Music Collective, an intensive chamber music program that takes place at the UC Berkeley and Bucknell University campuses, and is Associate Professor of Music at Bucknell University.

General public tickets are $15.00, seniors are $12.00 and students are $10.00.
