Description:
Blacksburg Community Strings and Chamber Orchestra present their 2023 Spring Concert titled "Celebrating the Sound of Solo Strings" at Warm Hearth Village Center on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
The Spring Concert features local string and wind instrument players playing the classical music of Beethoven, Saint-Saens, and Bach as well as an orchestral arrangement of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Soloists include cellist John Crawford, violinist Rhea Epstein and violist Diane Conant.
The Blacksburg Community Strings (BCS), a community ensemble of violin, viola, cello and string bass players, was formed in October 1999 and had its debut public performance in December 1999. It is made up of middle and high school students, avocational community players, and active and retired professionals.
BCS welcomes string players of all ages and abilities from Blacksburg and the surrounding region. All members are volunteers. There are no dues or fees. No auditions are required. Requirements: Your love of music and your willingness to work hard!
