Description: The Town of Floyd continues their 8th Annual Floyd Small Town Summer event series with Dan Tyminski Band and opener Sarah Kate Morgan on Thursday, August 14, 2025 outside at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park.

Throughout his 30+ year career, Dan Tyminski has left his mark in every corner of modern music. Tyminski’s voice famously accompanies George Clooney’s performance of the Stanley Brother’s Classic song, "I’m A Man of Constant Sorrow", in the film, "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" and his vocal collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii on the song "Hey, Brother" was a global smash, having been streamed over one billion times to date.

Dan has also contributed guitar and/or harmony to projects by Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, LeAnn Rimes, Aaron Lewis and Rob Thomas, to name a few. In addition to his highly successful solo career, Dan Tyminski has played guitar and mandolin for Alison Krauss and Union Station since 1994. His unmatched instrumental skills and burnished, soulful tenor voice have been key components of the band.

Dan has been honored with 14 Grammy Awards from 18 nominations, was named Male Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association 4x and was recognized as 2004’s Male Vocalist of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America.

Born of Appalachian soil in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, Sarah Kate Morgan sings, plays, and writes like she’s been in these hills since the dawn of time. Inspired by a dulcimer built by her grandfather, Tennessee-born Sarah Kate Morgan has been playing dulcimer since she was 7 years old. She went on to place 1st at the 2012 National Mountain Dulcimer Championships at Winfield, Kansas at the age of 18. Morgan is also a talented singer and songwriter whose style reflects and honors life in southern Appalachia.

She has performed and/or recorded with roots music giants such as Tyler Childers, Alice Gerrard, and Erynn Marshall & Carl Jones. Having achieved degrees in Traditional Music, Appalachian Studies, and Arts Administration from Morehead State University, her work centers on a lived belief that art and tradition are living, breathing tools that foster hope, build community, and create change.

There will also be a Kid’s Zone with bounce houses, face painting and more.

This concert's Kid Zone sponsor is The Floyd Country Store and the kid zone will feature a rock wall for climbing plus face painting, live goats, volleyball and lots of other yard games, bounce castle and much more! Floyd Young Life and Wyldlife will be running Gaga Ball.

We will have yard games, creative activities with Springhouse Community School and Floyd Friends of Asylum Seekers, drinks courtesy of Floyd Chamber of Commerce, an exhibit by NRV Naturalist Group, and Byan Dowd, local Allstate Agent, will be running an art tent in the Kid’s Zone!

Featured in the pavilion this week is the Floyd Humane Society. Stop by and find out about their important mission locally and pet some furry friends.

June Bug Center and Floyd County High School Speech team will be selling cold drinks and hot popcorn.

The Floyd Small Town Summer Festival Event Series is free and open to the public.

The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. Featuring music, movies, face-painting, inflatables, games, food and beverage and special activities presented by a variety of community organizations from June 5, 2025 until August 28, 2025.

Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket.

Gates will be open and access provided to the public starting at 6:00 PM.
