New River Stage presents The Awesome '80s Prom - Interative Theater Event starting on Saturday, April 29, 2017 through Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Warm Hearth Village Center.

Showtimes:
• Saturday, April 29th and Saturday, May 6th: Preshow starts at 7:30 pm, Show runs 8-10 pm.

• Sunday April 30th and Sunday, May 7th: Preshow starts at 2:30 pm, show runs from 3-5 pm.

Travel back in time with New River Stage to 1989 and the Wanaget High School prom. Written by Ken Davenport, The Awesome ‘80s Prom, is a 360-degree audience interactive event. Davenport is a Tony Award-winning Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre producer, blogger, and writer. This show is a dedication to the prom he never had. WINNER! 2006 Improv Theater Award - "Best Interactive Show"

Directed by AJ Brightman Moose, and produced by New River Stage, the show cast is made up of a strong mix of local actors. Adults and teens have joined together to develop a production partly scripted, partly improv and the action never stops! The ensemble cast includes Thomas Lazo, Morgan Lazo, Nick Kiser, Harmony Faye Tripp-Kiser, Liza Roop, Natasha Cox, Eli Cook, Sydney Fritz, Liza Roth, Jessica Kniskern, Jeremiah Sarver-Wolf, Seth McGuire, Mark Curtis, Stephanie Watson, Randy Kirchner, and Kayla Blevins.

Attending this interactive show is like going back in time. Come dressed in ‘80s fashion or as your favorite ‘80s icon. Big hair and parachute pants are encouraged. Have your photo taken with your date as you enjoy the music and live DJ. The concessions area will be open for sales of drinks and snacks. Dance with a cheerleader or the quarterback. Make sure to vote for your favorite prom king and queen. The winners change every show. Join the dance circle and strut your stuff. Break dancers are welcome. Make sure you greet the surprise mystery guest!

All of the best characters from your favorite '80s movies are at the prom. From the Captain of the Football Team to the Exchange Student, from the Geek to the Head Cheerleader, they're all competing for Prom King and Queen. And just like on The Voice, the audience decides who wins! Travel back in time and watch the '80s drama unfold. Be a teacher, be a student, be our guest! COME PLAY WITH US!

The Awesome ‘80s Prom Opens Saturday, April 29th at the Village Center on the Warm Hearth Campus 2387 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg VA 24060.

Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at http://www.newriverstage.org or at the door.

Parking is FREE and the building is ADA accessible.
