The New River Blues Society (NRBS) presents the Skyla Burrell Band in concert on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at The Lyric Theatre.

Join the New River Blues Society for an evening of original, high energy, electric blues!

Skyla Burrell Band is a hard working national touring blues band sure to get the crowd energized. Known for their impassioned vocals, hot licks on two blazing guitars and get down and boogie music, a perfect fit for celebrating the blues.

A full time, hardworking traveling blues band, featuring the stunning dual lead guitar work of Skyla and Mark Tomlinson. Onstage and on record, they play 100% original material. Singer & guitarist Skyla Burrell and co-founder & guitarist Mark Tomlinson share songwriting credits. Called "one of the most smokin' blues bands in the US", the band’s ten year history bears out in its fiery, vibrant live performances. Skyla Burrell’s voice not only shines, but her guitar work also cuts through.

Music Monthly Magazine said "Many women in the blues have great voices and have made their careers singing the blues, but not too many can double it up, slice it, dice it and sacri-fice it on the best Fender has to offer like Skyla can."

The NRBS is proud to support the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley at this event. They will give a brief announcement prior to the start of the music regarding their work and be available to answer questions at a resource table in the lobby.

Doors open at 6:00 PM and the music starts at 7:00 PM.

The New River Blues Society formed to help keep traditional blues alive in the New River Valley and surrounding area is a 501(c)3 is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to keep the Blues alive by providing an organization to teach, share, and promote the Blues in the New River Valley.
