New River Community College's Fiddle, Banjo & Dance Club brings you a night of bluegrass and old-time music featuring Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder and Whitetop Mountain on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 117 Edwards Hall at New River Community College's Dublin, VA campus.

Adam McPeak and Mountain Thunder are from Southwest Virginia and the group is composed primarily of young bluegrass musicians with mandolin player Adam McPeak at the helm since the age of 13.

Adam didn't have to look beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains of his home for the sound he was searching for, the rich blend of harmonies from his dad, Mike McPeak, also on rhythm guitar. Steve Chrisley lending his deep rich baritone and picking the five string banjo, as Marlon Dean saws out the fiddle breaks and plays twin and harmony fiddle with Nikki Wright, as she is putting out the rich and powerful vocals on both lead and harmony and David Chrisley holds them all together on the bass fiddle.

The Whitetop Mountain Band is a family-based band and one of the busiest groups in the Appalachians, performing concerts and for dances in America and abroad. They have deep roots in mountain music and their members have done much to preserve the Whitetop region’s style of old time fiddling and banjo picking. They are a tour de force of playing, singing, and dance, and they are gifted entertainers as well.

Admission is free however donations will be accepted to help with travel expenses for the musicians.

All are welcome.

Doors open at 5:00 pm.

Jamborees are held the second Saturday of each month through April at NRCC, a Crooked Road affiliated venue.
