New River Community College offers a 3D Printing Introductory Workshop on Wednesday, April 8th at the college's Dublin, VA campus.

The workshop will feature an introduction to 3-D design and printing technologies including discussions of types of 3-D printers, products currently produced by the printers, printer and material costs and where to find existing 3-D models for printing.

Participants will be given an overview of several 3-D design programs including Google Sketchup and Autodesk Inventor. They will also receive hands-on instruction on use of 3-D printers including terminology, setup and maintenance and how to alter print settings.

“Many of us have seen videos online of 3-D printers in action, but this will be a chance for folks to get a first-hand look at the technology,” says Mark Rowh, NRCC’s vice president for workforce development and external relations.

The maximum number of participants in this session is 12.
