Great Wilderness Brewing Company presents Allen Surface and Scott Freeman in concert on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Enjoy this duo bringing together traditional Appalachian musicianship with a mix of bluegrass, folk, rock and country.

Allen Surface is an acoustic musician performing primarily on the dobro and is based in Southwest Virginia and regularly performs with various local musicians from the New River Valley.

Scott Freeman grew up in a rich musical area of Mount Airy, North Carolina. In addition to his work as a professional musician, Scott is also a traditional music teacher and musical instructor for Pete Wernick, aka Dr. Banjo.

Scott lends his talents to many groups. The McPeak Brothers, The Crowe Brothers, The Mountain Home Bluegrass Boys, and to countless other musicians call on Scott for assistance.
