The New River Valley Timebank and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore presents the 2025 Fall Repair Cafe on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Toss it? No way! Stop by the ReStore for free repairs including sewing for clothes & more, jewelry, small furniture, appliances, electronics, knife & tool sharpening, plant repotting and more! Each individual can receive repair on up to three items.
A Repair Cafe is a free event that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Give new life to your cherished items!
The New River Valley Master Gardener Association will provide assistance to repotting plants (bring your own pots & soil).
All are welcome.
Also featured at our event will be a Public Living Room which is an opportunity to sit and visit with your neighbors, enjoy some live music and perhaps a cup of tea.
The New River Valley TimeBank is a project of New River Valley Home, a non-profit that works to foster vibrant, lifespan-friendly communities by connecting people, resources and organizations. It has been developed and supported through the efforts of the NRV Livability Initiative and the NRV Aging in Place Leadership Team.
A TimeBank helps to connect people to exchange skills and services, using time rather than dollars. When a member provides one hour of service for someone, they earn one Time Credit. They can then spend this Time Credit by receiving an hour of service from someone else. The possibilities for exchange are endless and may include home repair, animal care, yard work, cooking lessons, computer instruction, etc.
All services are valued equally, and all members are respected for what they have to offer. It is an old idea made new—the idea that our community is stronger when neighbors make a practice of helping each other.
