Historic Smithfield presents Thanksgiving During The American Revolution with a Historic Pie Baking Contest on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Event Schedule:
• 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM: Thanksgiving During The American Revolution
• 11:00-11:45 AM: Historic Pie Baking Contest

Learn how early Americans celebrated Thanksgiving, talk with colonial reenactors, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of a colonial harvest celebration. The day features the VA250 Mobile Museum, part of Virginia’s statewide 250th-anniversary commemoration, along with live music from Ashlee Watkins & Andrew Small, demonstrations, food, petting ponies, guided house tours, colonial games, try on colonial clothes for photos, vendors and more family fun.

Calling all bakers! As part of Thanksgiving during the American Revolution on Saturday, November 15, Historic Smithfield invites you to enter its beloved Historic Pie Baking Contest.

Bakers of all ages can showcase their creativity with pies inspired by 18th-century recipes—sweet or savory! Judging begins at 11:00 AM, with prizes awarded for flavor, presentation, and historical authenticity. After the winners are announced, guests can sample the delicious entries.
