The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley presents the Opening Reception for Connemara to the Blue Ridge and Artist Talk featuring work by Sarah Hasty Williams on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
This exhibit features watercolor and mixed-water media works that capture the landscapes, flora, fauna, and living things from two mountain regions deeply connected across time and culture: Connemara in County Galway, Ireland, and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
Sarah describes the exhibition as “a small peek into the images of home on both sides of the pond,” reflecting on shared geology, cultural connections carried across the Atlantic by Irish immigrants to Appalachia, and the enduring bond between the two regions. Visitors will see land and seascapes, trees, songbirds, and even a few favorite cows from both countries.
The event will include live music played on harp and a gallery talk by the artist, Sarah Hasty Williams.
Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
Admission is free and open to the public.

The exhibit will be on display from October 16, 2025 - November 15, 2025.
Free street parking is available near the gallery along with a free public lot behind the Pulaski Theatre.
The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley is located at 21 West Main Street in Pulaski, VA.
