The Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery, located within the Squires Student Center, presents an Art Reception and Artist's Talk with Eugene Maurakis on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Seascapes of the 21st Century is an art exhibit that spotlights the annual influx of megatons of plastics and nutrients introduced into our oceans and seas by Eugene Maurakis, Ph.D, a researcher studying microplastics and their effect on ocean life. Eugene will give a talk about his research and the paintings on display which highlight is work. Eugene is a highly published research scientist and adjunct professor from the University of Richmond as well as Chief Scientist Emeritus at the Science Museum of Virginia.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to all.
Visit the exhibition "Seascapes of the 21st Century" and learn about ocean microplastics and how our choices affect sea life.
The exhibit will be on display from September 5, 2025 through December 17, 2025.
Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery is located at 290 College Avenue, Suite 225 in Blacksburg, VA located within the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.
