Hokie BugFest is annual educational event that highlights an ongoing youth education program hosted by the Virginia Tech Department of Entomology, Virginia Tech College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, Virginia Cooperative Extension's 4-H program, and the department's student-run professional organization, the W. Event Highlights include:

• Hokie BugZoo: See blue death feighning beetles, scorpions that glow, bird-eating tarantulas, giant cave roaches, vinegaroons, termites in action, Madagascar hissing cockroaches and other fascinating arthropods. Many are from countries around the world and others live right here in Virginia.

Test your luck and hone your skills as you play: bug ball, insect magnetism, butterfly roundup, ladybeetle float, critter toss, and ring a walking stick. Win prizes. Open to all ages.
• Earn your Junior Entomologist certificate. Answer a few simple questions and complete our scavenger hunt to earn your certificate and a prize of your choice.
• 4-H Insect Collection Contest. Check out insect collections entered by young entomologists from around the region. Winners will be announced; ribbons and prizes will be given.
