Radford University and the City of Radford present the 28th Radford Highlanders Festival on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Radford University's Moffett Field.
The Radford Highlanders Festival is a celebration of Scottish heritage featuring the famed Scottish Heavyweight games with multiple divisions starting at 9:00 AM, bagpiping, live music and dancing performances on two stages along with music on the Plaza headlined by the Tartan Terrors and Ally the Piper, sheepherding demonstrations, Scottish Clans, food, vendors, children's games, iconic Highlander cows from New River Highland Cattle Farm and festivities for all ages.
Whether a family’s background is of Scots-Irish origin or of other descent, the day always brings with it an air of excitement and anticipation. There is no place more beautiful than Southwest Virginia in the fall and the Blue Ridge Mountains provide a beautiful back-drop for the fall festival.

There will be sheepherding demonstrations every hour from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In the Kids' Area, enjoy "Stories from the Highlands" every hour on the half hour from 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
The Tartan Terrors bring their Celtic Invasion from Toronto, Canada, to festivals and shows across North America, blending the energy of a rock show with humor and stepdance featuring bagpipes, fiddle, drums, song, comedy, dance and kilts.
With a distinctive sound and a proud tradition of making Celtic music fun and accessible to any audience, the Terrors have played big stages across North America, including The Iridium, Times Square, NYC, Daryl's House Club, Pawling, NY, Freeman Arts Pavilion, Selbyville, DE, Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival, Florence, MA, and The Celtic Music & Craft Beer Festival in Dunedin, FL.

https://www.instagram.com/tartanterrors/Ally the Piper is a viral internet sensation, renowned for modernizing the Great Highland bagpipe. She blends classic rock and heavy metal with Celtic influences, captivating audiences worldwide.
She is particularly recognized for challenging traditional perceptions of the bagpipe, and for her ability to take the centuries-old instrument and make it relevant and appealing to a modern audience.
Supported by legends like Metallica and Iron Maiden, Ally showcases her talent on various traditional instruments and is redefining the bagpipe's place in contemporary music.
Ally began her career as a competitive bagpiper, starting off strong by winning the 2012 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow as a member of a youth pipe band. She continued to compete solo and was consistently ranked at the top of her divisions in the Eastern United States. However, in 2019, she decided to step away from competition to focus on her music career.
