The Jessie Peterman Library presents Floyd Farmers Collective: Hardwood Initiative on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Join the Floyd Farmers Collective as we meet quarterly to showcase programs and initiatives available to local farmers.
Nick Smith, USFS forester for Floyd and Pulaski County, with the Virginia Department of Forestry will be discussing the USFS Hardwood Initiative Program. This program focuses on hardwood management with an interest in promoting oak. Discussion will also be around reforestation of timberlands focusing on aiding with replanting pine timberland that has been harvested, Riparian Buffer Tax Credit, a tax credit given if buffers are left near streams after harvesting, and Riparian Forest for Landowners.
The Jessie Peterman Library is located at 321 West Main Street in Floyd, VA.
