Description:
Music on the Corner’s 2025/2026 season opens with Silent Movie Night featuring "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Kick off the Halloween season with us in this trip back in time. The church is transformed into a Silent Movie theater for this year’s film selection, the famous 1923 movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring Lon Chaney.
Making her third visit to St. John’s, we are delighted that Dorothy Papadakas will accompany the film on the incredible St. John’s pipe organ. A graduate of The Juilliard School and formerly the organist for St. John the Devine Cathedral in New York City, Dorothy improvises on the organ her interpretation of the action in the silent films. Join us to hear Dorothy’s musical creativity bring to life this tragic tale of unrequited love. Dorothy performs internationally and is an accomplished organist, published composer, lyricist, playwright, and author.
Our screening of "Hunchback" is the opening concert of Dorothy’s 2025 National Halloween Silent Film Tour.
A reception will be held at 5:15 PM and the concert starts at 6:00 PM.
St. John's Episcopal Church is located at 1 Mountain Avenue in Roanoke, VA at the corner of Jefferson and Elm Streets in downtown Roanoke, VA.
