Claytor Lake State Park presents the program "Plants and Potions" on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Discover the world of edible and medicinal plants on this ranger-led walk through the park. Learn how traditional herbal remedies (sometimes called "potions") like Goldenseal for colds and Ginger for digestion have been used for generations.

Hundred's of years ago, witches would use all kinds of natural ingredients to make their brews. Join our rangers as we guide you through the woods to find edible and medicinal plants and use them to make our own potions. We’ll also cover safe foraging practices and the history behind these healing plants.

The event if free, but the $7.00 parking fee applies.

Claytor Lake State Park is located at 6620 Ben H. Bolen Drive in Dublin, VA.
