The Virginia Native Plant Society New River Chapter presents their September Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in-person at the Montgomery County Health & Human Services Building Room 108/109 in Christiansburg, VA and on Zoom.
The September program features Ben Harder from Den Hill Farm and his talk on fungi. In addition, Beth Umberger will be bringing in some free seeds from the Montgomery County Museum Garden to distribute to anyone that wants them including New York ironweed, starry rosinweed, rattlesnake master, monarda fistulosa and solidago rugosa.

Between 6:30 PM and the start of the meeting at 7:00 PM, two items will be sold in the parking lot. Paperback copies of the book titled "Plant Invaders of Mid-Atlantic Natural Areas" and leftover plants from the chapters' May plant sale. Specifically, 'Major wheeler' coral honeysuckle and prairie dropseed grass. Cash, checks or credit cards will be accepted.
The Virginia Native Plant Society (VNPS), founded in 1982 as the Virginia Wildflower Preservation Society, is a nonprofit organization of individuals who share an interest in Virginia’s native plants and habitats. The Society and its chapters seek to further the appreciation and conservation of this priceless heritage.
The New River Chapter covers the counties of Bland, Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski and Wythe. Towns of Blacksburg, Christiansburg and City of Radford.
