The Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech presents Cellist and Vocalist Abel Selaocoe in concert on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

South African cellist Abel Selaocoe moves seamlessly across genres, improvising, vocalizing, and creating his own percussion. Challenging the limits of the cello, Selaocoe moves seamlessly across genres and styles, masterfully improvising, vocalizing, and creating his own percussion. This rich evening of solo music includes two center co-commissioned pieces, Bach, and some of the cellist’s original works. Don’t miss the chance to witness an artist redefining what the cello and live music can be.

A joyous phenomenon brimming with new ideas and approaches, the brilliant artist leads a musical adventure that will leave the audience breathless, inspired, and utterly transformed.

Tickets range from $20.00-$55.00 depending on seat location. Tickets for students with ID and youth 18 & under are $10.00.
