The Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery, located within the Squires Student Center, presents the Closing Art Reception for Sarah Bachman and Kaily Schenkner's art exhibit titled "Emerge" on Friday, September 9, 2024.
Meet the artists, enjoy the soulful art and have some refreshments (you'll love our spread)! This is the final day to see the artwork on display.
Perspective Gallery’s summer exhibition features the work of two native Virginians, Sarah Bachman and Kaily Schenkner in their first public art show. Sarah Bachman, mixed media artist, and Kaily Schenkner, fiber collage and pottery artist, ‘document the activities and places I visit which are sources of normalcy and joy in a world tilting toward the posthuman condition.’ Influenced by her upbringing in and around Appalachia, Kaily Schenkner’s fiber collage and pottery is inspired by medieval art, tattoos, and history, and culture. The artists’ work complements one other in grit and charm, accessibility, and visioning. The work invites the viewer for a deep look into places we may pass without noticing.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display from June 5th through August 28th.
The Perspective Gallery is located in the second floor gallery in Virginia Tech’s Squires Student Center at 290 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA.
