The Radford University College of Visual & Performing Arts continues their Selu Scenery Plein Air Day Artist Workshop series with Michele Walter Series on Saturday, July 25, 2025 at Selu Conservancy in Radford, VA.

Join Radford University Art Museum at the Selu Conservancy! Take advantage of this incredible opportunity where you can sign up for various sessions with different artists and immerse yourself in a plein air painting experience. Draw inspiration from the breathtaking natural beauty of Selu and create art in a stunning outdoor setting.

Nature provides an overwhelming amount of visual information—this session will teach how to simplify and focus on storytelling. The goal is to emphasize shapes first, then use value to enhance impact.

Michele Walter’s path in the world of art has been a long journeyed one and as a result she has continued to challenge herself into new mediums and techniques. Having cultivated her watercolor techniques to have the more familiar softness while also capturing outstanding detail, it is no surprise she’s become an award winning artist regionally.

Materials needed are:
• Paint
• Multimedia Sketchbook (5x7)
• Watercolor Pad (9x12)
• Big flat and round brushes
• One small round brush
• Pencil
• Kneaded ereaser
• Paper towels or cloth
• Spray bottle
• Bug spray
• Sunscreen
• Hat

Workshops are 100% free though participants must supply their own materials. Both students and the public are welcome.

Enjoy artist sessions, outdoors at Radford University's Selu Conservancy, an impressive retreat that offers 380 acres of natural beauty and charm.
