The Montgomery Museum of Art & History presents a Giving Day Celebration, Volunteer Appreciation and Exhibit Reception on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Celebrate the Montgomery Museum's community service and exhibits! Join us for a special jam-packed celebration including the GiveLocalNRV 2025 Giving Day, which is on June 25th, Volunteer Appreciation and the Portraiture and Photography exhibit reception!
This reception serves as the exhibit reception for our new exhibit "Portraiture & Photograph: Changing Techniques & Technology," which examines the tradition and cultural phenomenon of portraiture - what it meant to the sitters, the technological processes, and how portraits were perceived by society. Using early daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, crayon enlargement photographs, film, and instant cameras, this exhibit tracks portraiture from the 1840s to present day. The portraits themselves feature individuals from the local area, providing a close tie to the cultural heritage of Montgomery County.
As our Give Local story for this year surrounds community service, this reception also celebrates our wonderful volunteers. The museum itself depends heavily on volunteers to provide collection care and community programming. Help us celebrate over 100 museum volunteers!
