Join our House Party to enjoy gallery exhibits featuring wonderful chairs, then linger on the lawn with live music by Vic and Jane Zitta, The Floyd String Band All-Stars followed by the harmonious duo, Willard Gayheart & Ricky Cox. Joining with Give Local Giving Day, we’ll have a silent auction featuring quilts, furniture, barn quilt, books, art, pottery & more, refreshments, and each donation of any amount will help us construct a virtual chair, part by part!
The “Memories Sit Here — Stools, Chairs, Benches, and Their Makers” exhibit explores a wonderland of woven seats, remarkable maker stories, and a host of generational family treasures. On view are more than thirty handmade seats of all shapes and sizes with their makers’ stories to delight the eye and mind.
Often these singular seats would be the only prized piece proudly displayed in early family photos. These mountain memories, all from Floyd County, will be exhibited through December 2025.
In honor of our “Memories Sit Here” chair exhibit, help us construct our fundraiser chair. We’ll fill in the parts as donations accumulate, until we reach our $3,500 match meaning each donation will be doubled!
Admission is free and donations are appreciated.
The House Party is part of the annual Give Local NRV 2025 Day of Giving. Thanks to the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, Old Church Gallery can now accept online donations at https://www.givelocalnrv.org/organization/Old-Church-Gallery-Ltd in addition to cash or checks.
Chairs are welcome.
The Old Church Gallery is a cultural arts museum preserving the creative heritage of Floyd County with exhibits, programs, and collections of both physical objects and digitally-archived images, oral histories, and recordings. They have been collecting and sharing local lore, prehistoric to contemporary, since 1978.
Old Church Gallery is located at 110 Wilson Street in Floyd, VA.
