The Selu Conservancy presents the National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Event Schedule:
• 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM: Trails Open
• 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Mindfulness Practice (Retreat Center Lower Level)
• 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Sketching & Watercolor with Artist Matt Gentry (Bathhouse)
• 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Boat House Open
• 1:00-1:45 PM: Yoga (Big Johns Laughing Place)
• 2:00-3:00 PM: Kids Nature Club (Barn)
• 3:00-5:00 PM: Chair Bottom Demo (Farmhouse)
• 6:00-9:00 PM: S'mores (Campground)
Come out to the Selu Conservancy to celebrate National Trails Day! Feel free to hike, stroll, picnic, sit, reflect, or just be. There are 3.5 miles of wooded trails and 2.0 miles of gravel roads. Come and go as you like!
Join the free Art Sketching and Watercolor with Matt Gentry at the Bathhosue at 10:00 AM. Bring a sketchbook and pencils or watercolors and be inspired by Selu! Matt Gentry is an artist and photographer in Blacksburg Virginia. He has been a photojournalist in Virginia for over 40 years and his photographs have appeared worldwide via The Roanoke Times and Associated Press.
There will be Guided Mindfulness Practice available from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM. Enjoy a special yoga class at 1:00 PM with mats provided. A Chair Bottom Demonstration will be available from 3:00-5:00 PM at the farmhouse. Learn about the craft, bring a chair for repair and/or tour the farmhouse. Front porch pickin' also welcome.
A special Kids Nature Club will take place from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Barn. Highly recommended! End the evening by making S'mores from 6:00-9:00 PM with all supplies provided.

This event is free and open to the public. All humans are welcome though pets must stay at home.
The special programming is provided by Radford University faculty and staff and friends of Selu. All supplies will be provided.
Radford University’s Selu Conservancy is located just minutes from campus on 380 acres along the Little River. Located only seven miles from campus, Selu also serves as an extended classroom.
Beautiful views, abundant trails, an impressive retreat center and a river-front boathouse provide an ideal environment for corporate meetings, family reunions, school outings or for other groups seeking an off-the-beaten-path retreat.
