The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech presents Opening Reception for 2025 New River Art Juried Biennial on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Join us for a reception celebrating the opening of the 2025 New River Art Juried Biennial bringing together work from over 45 regional artists. Join us to meet the artists, explore the full exhibition, and celebrate the vibrant creative voices shaping our region.
The New River Art Juried Biennial traditionally rotates every two years between the Floyd Center for the Arts, the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley in Pulaski, and the Blacksburg Regional Art Association (BRAA). The 2025 exhibition is sponsored by BRAA and hosted by the Moss Arts Center for the second time.
The juror Michael Rooks is the Wieland Family Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. Known as an art curator dedicated to community building and engaging audiences across generations from every walk of life, Michael Rooks joined the High Museum in January 2010. In addition to his responsibilities at the High, Rooks served as commissioner and cocurator of Workshopping: An American Model of Architectural Practice at the U.S. Pavilion, 12th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia in 2010 and is an independent writer.
Free complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
The galleries and all related events are free and open to the public.
The New River Art Juried Biennial will be on exhibit from Thursday, June 5th through Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech is located at 330 Turner Street NW in Blacksburg, VA.
