The Town of Floyd kicks off their 8th Annual Floyd Small Town Summer event series with The Sentimental Gentleman and The Wild Shoats followed by the family movie "Moana 2" on Thursday, June 5, 2025 outside at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park.

The Wild Shoats will open the evening, followed by Nashville's The Sentimental Gentlemen (Sierra Ferrell's touring band). After the music ends, stay for a special showing of Disney's "Moana 2" on the giant blow-up movie screen.

Hailing from the heart of East Nashville’s thriving music scene, The Sentimental Gentleman are a powerhouse collective that seamlessly blend deep-rooted traditional bluegrass with fresh, contemporary influences. When they’re not on the road backing the West Virginia songbird, Sierra Ferrell, the band’s members are busy crafting a sound that is as diverse as it is electrifying, drawing on years of professional stage and studio experience.

Hailing from the musically rich neighborhoods of East Nashville, the Sentimental Gentlemen are composed of some of the finest pickers around town. All full time touring and studio musicians, each has performed at thousands of venues and festivals around the world. They'll bring their professional experience to your event and provide you with the down home, authentic bluegrass music you want to hear when visiting Nashville, TN. Their catalogue of songs includes a deep well of traditional and modern bluegrass (including crowd favorites like Rocky Top, Man of Constant Sorrow, Wagon Wheel, and more!). Tight harmonies, fast picking, and an energetic stage presence will enliven any event.

Emerging from the in-between realms of Morgantown, WV, and Millheim, PA, The Wild Shoats write an alt-folk soundtrack to the strange times they find themselves in. Characterized by the plaintive sound of fiddles and mountain singing, The Wild Shoats call on their collective background of Appalachian old-time fiddling, folk songs, and the high-lonesome to reimagine the songs and sounds of their home. The Wild Shoats won the Appalachian String Band Music Festival’s Neo-Traditional Band Competition in 2023, just a few months after the band’s formation, and they released their debut album, Yell In The Shoats, in early 2025.

"Moana 2" is a 2024 animated adventure film rated PG starring the voices of Auli'i Cravalho, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Hualalai Chung.

The Small Town Fall Festival Event Series is free and open to the public.

The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. Featuring music, movies, face-painting, inflatables, games, food and beverage and special activities presented by a variety of community organizations from June 5, 2025 until August 28, 2025.

Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket and we'll provide the popcorn for the movie.

Gates will be open and access provided to the public starting at 6:00 PM.
