In 2025, CNRE is celebrating the first forester hired at Virginia Tech, J. Wilbur O’Byrne in 1925, marking 100 years of forestry education, research, and outreach. The distinguished lecture series honors John F. Hosner, honorary founding dean of the college, who would be 100 years old on Feb. 25, 2025.
The lecture is made possible by a generous gift from John's wife, Tenna Hosner, and continues his enduring vision for preparing and inspiring the next generation of natural resources professionals. This lecture is a bridge between the Virginia Tech campus and the Blacksburg community that Tenna continues to call home.
The Squires Student Center is located at 290 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA on the campus of Virginia Tech.
