Description:
The Blacksburg Library presents Art for All: Dot Day on Monday, September 9, 2024.
International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book "The Dot" on September 15, 2009. "The Dot" is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.
Join us as we celebrate creativity, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds book "The Dot". We will be paint pouring on upcycled vinyl records. All supplies provided.
Admission is free though registration is required.
To register online, visit:
https://mfrl.libcal.com/event/12341307.
All ages and abilities welcome.
Due to messy nature of the craft, families with young children are encouraged to make one project together.
Art pieces will need to dry at the library and then will be hung in a community art display on our gallery walls. Participants will get an email when art pieces are ready for pick up.
The Blacksburg Library is located at 200 Miller Street in Blacksburg, VA.
