Dogtown Roadhouse presents Kyser George & Friends in concert on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Kyser George is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist from Mt. Airy, North Carolina. He received his first instrument at age six and has been gigging since the age of nine when he joined with other area youth musicians to form ShadowGrass in 2014.

Kyser draws influences from many genres of music, from bluegrass to funk and everything in between.

While he held down the upright bass for several years, Kyser transitioned to guitar in 2020. He also served as lead guitarist for The Goodfellers and Dewey and Leslie Brown and the Carolina Gentleman.

Kyser has received top awards on bass, guitar, mandolin, and dobro at area fiddler’s conventions through the years and in 2021, won the North Carolina Flatpicking Guitar Championship.

In 2016 and 2017, Kyser was selected to participate in the International Bluegrass Music Association Kids on Bluegrass program. In 2017, he appeared with The Salty Dogs, a youth bluegrass “supergroup” compiled by the IBMA on NBC’s Little Big Shots with Steve Harvey. He also appeared on The Today Show with Al Roker during his visit to Raleigh for the IBMA World of Bluegrass festival. In late 2019, Kyser released his first solo album, "Taking the Lead".
