The Newport Community Center presents a Four Performer Concert with Joseph Allred, Kevin Knight, Mike Gangloff and Kaily Schenker on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Music performances featuring American Primitive Guitar legend Joseph Allred from Tennessee, singer songwriter Kevin Knight and locals Kaily Schenker and Mike Gangloff.
Kevin Knight may be better known as Nevin Kight. His music can be described as genre bending. Sometimes dark and brooding and on the folky side, other times steeped in R&B synth goo and laden with processed beats.
He is also described as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter performing psychedelic, folk, lo-fi, pop, rock, experimental and ambient.

Fiddler Mike Gangloff (Ironto) plays free Appalachian music that weaves together improvisation, melodic composition, and traditional tunes learned from older players in a region around his home in Southwest Virginia. He often performs solo on hardanger-style and octave fiddles, as well as in duos, including this year with UK guitarist C Joynes, with Prices Fork cellist Kaily Schenker, and with fellow Black Twig Pickers guitarist and banjoist Isak Howell. Besides the Black Twigs, Mike is a founding member of Pelt and Eight Point Star.

Kaily Schenker is a cellist who studied cello at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is now based in the New River Valley.

The cover is $10.00 per person and all ages are welcome.
Doors open at 6:00 PM and the music starts at 7:00 PM.
