Description:
The Jessie Peterman Library presents the "No Means Know Self Defense Class" on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
What would you do if you were attacked? Grabbed? Choked? 1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence and more than two-thirds of all victims know their attacker. Given the statistics in society, everyone should know how to defend themselves.
Self defense instructor and Floyd, VA resident, Lisa Crowell, will teach you how to stop an attacker, escape, and survive a physical assault. You will be very physically active during this class including learning how to fall and how to get up safely, as well as specific techniques to fight back.
Lisa's background consists of both physical training (martial arts, primarily Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai) as well as seminars, self defense workshops, and working with victims of sexual assault and domestic abuse. Her goal is to empower every student with knowledge and skills to defend themselves, protect themselves, and stand up for themselves.
This class is for ages 18 and up.
Wear comfortable clothing: tennis shoes, t-shirt, sweat pants, etc.
No experience necessary, all physical fitness levels welcome.
Come and learn basic self defense skills. Don't be a victim. Be prepared!
The Jessie Peterman Library is located at 321 West Main Street in Floyd, VA.
