Sustainable Blacksburg continues their Lunch and Learn series with their July event titled "Virginia Tech's Bee Campus USA and Tree Campus Higher Education Certifications" on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 offered in-person at the Blacksburg Library and online on Zoom.
The Bee Campus USA initiative provides a framework for university and college campus communities to work together to conserve native pollinators by increasing the abundance of native plants, providing nest sites, and reducing the use of pesticides. The Tree Campus Higher Education program provides a simple framework for colleges and universities to grow their community forests, achieve national recognition, and create a campus their students and staff are proud of. Learn more about these programs and how they are implemented at Virginia Tech.
Our speakers are VT employees Emily Vollmer (Sustainability Coordinator), Kristina Cook (Program Coordinator) and Jamie King (Urban Forest Manager and University Arborist).
