The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley presents the 2024 TriWizard TriMile Potter in the Park Race on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Bisset Park in Radford, VA.

Time to venture out from under the stars! We are pleased to inform you that you are invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's Tri-Wizard Tri-Mile Race.

Run, walk, apparate, or fly three miles through the wizarding world of Bisset Park.

You don't have to rob Gringott's Bank to participate in all this Potter fun! All proceeds help local adults learn to read, speak English, and use the computer. All wizard racers receive a magical Potter in the Park t-shirt, a lightning bolt temporary tattoo, and other fun goodies. Magical creatures (pets) will receive a Potter-themed bandana!

Enjoy a Magical Creatures Class with Professor Trelawney, house sorting with Professor McGonagall and butterbeer tasting and Potter trivia wheel with Radford Public Library!

House Competition:
Muggles, wizards, magical creatures will self-sort into Houses upon registration. The House Cup winner will be the house with the most registrants and all members will receive eternal glory.

Age Group Awards: Are you faster than a seeker on a Nimbus 2000?
In addition to magical medals for the fastest male, female, and binary racers, awards will be bestowed upon racers with the fastest times in the following age categories: 3-5, 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older. These beastly awards were donated by New River Engraving.

In addition, a costume contest will be held and awards will be granted in the categories of youth, adult, and magical creatures (pets).

This year's event will be more fun than a whole box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans! And even better: 100% of proceeds support Literacy NRV's adult literacy programs!

The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley connects community members who want to strengthen their literacy skills with trained, volunteer tutors. We provide tutoring in both basic literacy (reading and writing) and English as a second language (conversational and basic English skills) to adults in the New River Valley.

We also promote public awareness, cooperative partnerships, information sharing and referrals between literacy programs and communities.
