The Montgomery Museum of Art & History presents the 2024 GiveLocal NRV Celebration with the Opening of the Appalachian-themed Children's Corner on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
The Montgomery Museum of Art & History is excited to announce its participation in the GiveLocal NRV Celebration. This vibrant event promises a day filled with art, history, and community engagement, all in support of the museum's mission to connect and engage the community through the arts and the preservation and interpretation of history.
One highlight of the day is the much-anticipated opening of the Appalachian-themed Children's Corner titled "An Appalachian Childhood" from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Families and children are invited to an Appalachian themed "Storytime with Joelle" from 2:30-3:00 PM, while enjoying free ice cream treats provided by the museum.
Following the Children's Corner opening, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the museum will host the opening reception for two exhibitions: "Tractor Transition: A History of Agricultural Mechanization," which will explore an important moment of change in local agriculture. This exhibit will be accompanied by a historic tractor on the lobby floor and the "Agriculture Theme Art Show" featuring works by local artists. The GiveLocal NRV Celebration also presents an opportunity for guests to contribute to the Montgomery Museum's fundraising goal of $60,000. As part of the museum's initiative to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the historic former bank building, this ambitious goal symbolizes six decades of preserving local history. Every donation brings the museum closer to realizing their vision of being the premier regional cultural center that offers creative, inspirational, and enriching programming and is an inclusive, collaborative gathering space for the entire community. Early giving through June 25th is also encouraged.
