Description:
The Floyd County Historical Society presents the historical program with "History's Fingerprints: Searching for Enslaved Persons Past in the Brick of Today" with Ben Jackson on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Floyd Masonic Lodge.
One man's retirement (Ben Jackson) was the beginning of a course of study about his origins. The pursuit led him to an unusual hunting expedition amid the handmade bricks from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that can still be found in buildings around Southwest Virginia. He's been tracking down the handprints of slaves.
Join us as we explore the historic Masonic Lodge to see what clues have been left behind by the people who made the brick.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
The Floyd Masonic Lodge is located at 215 East Main Street in Floyd, VA.
