The YMCA at Virginia Tech continues their Welcoming Week events with a special screening of "The Kite Runner on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at The Lyric Theatre in downtown Blacksburg, VA.
"The Kite Runner" is a 2007 drama starring Khalid Abdalla, Atossa Leoni and Shaun Toub and is rated PG-13. The movie is based on the award-winning novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Houssein.
Film Synopsis:
After spending years in California, Amir returns to his homeland in Afghanistan to help his old friend Hassan, whose son is in trouble.

Welcoming Week brings New River Valley neighbors of all backgrounds together to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places. The YMCA at Virginia Tech is proud to host our 3nd annual Welcoming Week with support from the Town of Blacksburg, Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library, Blacksburg Farmers Market, The Lyric Theatre, Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation, local businesses, community groups and individuals.
The Lyric Theatre is located at 135 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA.
