The Eastmont Community Foundation presents the 16th Annual EastMont Tomato Festival on Saturday, August 19, 2023 outside at the Meadowbrook Center Courtyard.
Schedule of Events:
• 7:15 AM: ’Mater Madness — a high-energy, boot camp-style workout with running, relays, obstacle courses, strength drills and more. Free, preregistration required.
• 9:45 AM: Registration for all events begins
• 10:00 AM: Official opening of the Eastmont Tomato Festival
• 10:30 AM: Tomato Pageant
• 10:45 AM: Closing of entries for contests
• 11:15 AM: Magician Mark Fuller
• 12:00 PM: Appreciations and announcements: Announcing winners for tomato growing, cooking and artwork contests
• 12:00-1:30 PM: Stonehouse Performs
• 12:15 PM: Tomato Olympics start
• 1:15 PM: Tomato eating contest
• 2:00 PM: Festival ends

The free festival features contests for tomato art and tomato recipes, as well as competitions for biggest, ugliest and best-tasting tomato. Participants can also don their best tomato-themed outfits to compete in the ever-popular Tomato Pageant, and belly up to become the tomato-eating champion.
Enjoy great food (including fried green tomatoes, BLTs, pizzas, tomato sandwiches and tomato biscuits), live music, games, music, arts and crafts, and much more!

Kids ages 6-12 will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. There is no limit to the number of events kids can enter. In addition to the event medals, an overall TomatOlympic champion will be crowned.
Tomato Talent Pageant Categories:
• Cherry Tomato Baby (Ages 0-3)
• Salad Tomato (Ages 4-22)
• Roma Tomato (Ages 23-39)
• Heirloom Tomato (Ages 40 & Over)
Tomato Eating Contests:
• Children Ages 6-12
• Adults 13 & Over
For the tomato eating contests, a bowl of tomatoes is eaten as fast as possible. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to finish in each contest will win medals. There is a limit of 10 entrants per contest so sign-up early.
There is no entry fees for any of the contests and everyone is encouraged to join and enter multiple contests.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Parking is also free.
The Meadowbrook Community Center is located at 267 Alleghany Spring Road in Shawsville, VA.
