Villa Appalaccia Winery kicks off their Wine-Aversary Weekend with their 5th Anniversary Celebration Music and Movie Night featuring Music from Ash Devine and Movie Screening of "Bottle Shock" on Friday, August 11, 2023.

Event Schedule:
• 5:30-8:30 PM: Ash Devine Performs
• ~8:15-10:05 PM: Screening of Movie "Bottle Shock"

Join us under the stars for another movie night at the Villa! We’ll have popcorn and food for the family after we close the tasting room at 5:00 PM. Ash Devine will be bringing her "folk troubadour" sensibilities to the Villa stage. We'll be screening the 2008 film "Bottle Shock", the story of Californian wine beating French wine in a surprise blind taste test.

Ash Devine is an accomplished songwriter, ukulele and guitar player, performance artist, educator, and community-based arts facilitator whose work is influenced by her upbringing in the Blue Ridge mountains, and by her international travels to perform in health care facilities with Patch Adams M.D. Devine is known as a true ‘folk troubadour’ because she writes, collects, and performs cross genre music based on numerous folk traditions including original Americana & indie-folk-rock, traditional Appalachian old time, contemporary folk, country blues, historic bluegrass, folk revival, classic rock, and international folk music. Ash has self produced two albums of original music, and is working on two more, including a traditional Appalachian and folk legacy compilation.

Born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, Ash lived for over 17 years in the Western North Carolina region where she developed her studies of Appalachian music traditions.

"Bottle Shock" is the story of the early days of California wine making featuring the now infamous, blind Paris wine tasting of 1976 that has come to be known as "Judgment of Paris". The 2008 comedy drama is rated PG-13 and stars Chris Pine, Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman.
