Update: We will be moving tonight's Floyd SmaTown Summer inside due to the weather forecast. We hope you'll join us at Dogtown Roadhouse for the music Sol Roots Band and Star City SWAG starting around 6:00 PM. The movie will be at The Floyd Country Store starting at 7:00 PM.

The Town of Floyd continues its 6th Annual Floyd Small Town Summer series with their End of Summer Celebration featuring music from Star City Swag and the Sol Roots Band on Thursday, August 3, 2023 outside at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park.

The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. Featuring music, movies, face-painting, inflatables, games, food and beverage and special activities presented by a variety of community organizations!

The End of Summer Celebration features water slides, foam parties and more fun activities for your kids! Bring a bathing suit and a change of clothes to enjoy!

The Sol Roots band performs a mix of New Orleans funk, raw blues, energetic rock, deep grooves, and southern soul. Sol is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has toured with many roots, funk, and blues legends around the world as a part of Music Maker Revue. Sol's talent stretches from fiery rock to laid back jazz, and from funky innovative grooves to soulful ballads, drawing on a deep background in raw down-home blues.

The Sol Roots band has performed at many premier festivals and venues across the east coast US, and have shared the stage with acts such as Jon Cleary, Soulive, Dumpstaphunk,The Wood Brothers, Robert Randolph, Eric Lindell, Booker T Jones, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Shemekia Copeland, Jackie Greene and more.

Paying homage to the greats, and with a love of Universal Music as the guiding light, Sol steps out on a path with a powerful group unique and talented band of musicians.

Gates will be open and access provided to the public starting at 6:00 PM on all Floyd Small Town Summer events. Movies will begin when the sun goes down.

The events take place on alternating Thursdays from mid-June to the end of August.
