Join the Floyd Country Store for our first-ever Celebration of Banjo Day! This is a day-long celebration of the music and history of the banjo.

From 12:00-3:00 PM, enjoy three banjo music sets from excellent local musicians Mac Traynham, Corbin Hayslett and Dena Jennings.

At 3:00 PM, author Kristina R. Gaddy is leading a presentation and discussion on her book, "Well of Souls: Uncovering the Banjo’s Hidden History". In an extraordinary story unfolding across 200 years, Kristina uncovers the banjo’s key role in Black spirituality, ritual, and rebellion. Learn about the earliest history of the banjo through music, images, and a reading with a special focus on the history of the banjo in Virginia.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Admission is free and tips are appreciated.
