The Floyd County Historical Society presents the program "Wars – Hot and Cold, 1945-1960 Floyd County" on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at The Floyd Center for the Arts.
Join us as we present the history behind our current exhibit "Wars: Hot and Cold, Floyd County 1945-1960". The program will be presented by Gino Williams. The current exhibit
The current exhibit explores the history of Floyd from the perspective of national and world events during the Eisenhower years. Post World War II Floyd is presented in context with the dynamic social and cultural change of 1950s America. The invasion of South Korea by North Korean forces turned the Cold War hot and the men of Floyd County answered the call. Veterans of the Korean War are honored in this exhibit and their roles in the conflict are explained.
The Floyd County Historical Society will start the program with their updates and refreshments at 10:45 AM followed by the program at 11:00 AM.
This is a free public event. All are invited and encouraged to attend. The venue is handicap accessible.
