Runabout Sports presents the 9th Annual Hokie Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Race Schedule:
• 7:30 AM: Half Marathon starts
• 8:00 AM: 5K starts

Come to beautiful Blacksburg, Virginia this fall and run with the Hokies! The races feature a great course, delicious food, terrific swag, awards, post race festivities and the best finisher medal!

With the first four miles on roads, the next six travel along the Huckleberry Bike Trail before heading back onto roads and bike trails for the final miles. Combined with live music and plenty of cheering along the way, the Hokie Half is one you won’t want to miss!

The Half Marathon is $93 and includes Hokie Bird finisher medal, registration shirt, finisher shirt and other race swag. The No Frills Half Marathon option is $78 and includes Hokie Bird finisher medal, food and all race course amenities, but none of the shirts or swag.

5k entrants have the option to receive a 3-inch bronze Hokie Bird finisher medal ($50). The cost without the medal is $35.

A virtual option is also available for both the Hokie Half Marathon ($55.00) and 5K ($35.00). The virtual option includes shipping, Finisher Medal, participant long sleeve shirt, short sleeve finisher shirt and finisher magnet for the Hokie Half and shipping, short sleeve shirt and finisher medal for the 5K.

Virtual racers will have from September 25th to October 10th to complete the half marathon and 5K. A photo of your Garmin, Strava, Map My Run, etc. will be needed to confirm your finish.

Online registration closes at midnight on Thursday, September 30th. Paper forms will be accepted at Runabout Sports until 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 2nd. There is no race day registration.

Water and Gatorade are provided every two miles, along with a Gu station at mile eight, plus porta potties at several intervals on the course.

The Hokie Half Marathon has a four hour time limit for participants (~18:20 pace per mile). Those who did not finish within the time limit can still participate in the post race food and festivities, however will not receive a finisher medal and course support may not be available after 11:00 AM.

Beginning at 5:00 AM on race day, buses will shuttle athletes and spectators from Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill parking lot every 10 minutes to the start/finish area.

If you are dropping off a runner, you can drop them off at the Virginia Tech Airport.

The Hokie Half Marathon is limited to 3000 participants and the 5K is limited to 1000 runners/walkers.

At this time masks are required only in the starting corral. Once you pass the start line, masks may be removed.
